"Russia's barbaric attempts are aimed at leaving millions of Ukrainians without electricity": Brink urges US to approve aid to Ukraine as soon as possible

US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink responded to the massive Russian attack overnight. She called for the necessary assistance to be provided to Ukraine as soon as possible amid massive Russian strikes.

Brink said this on X on the morning of March 29. She emphasized that Ukraine needs military assistance right now.

She added that the massive Russian shelling is a "barbaric attempt" to deprive millions of people of electricity.

"Throughout the night, Russia mercilessly shelled Ukraine's energy infrastructure with missiles and drones. Air raid alert has been announced across the country. Russia's barbaric attempts to deprive millions of men, women and children of electricity continue. Our help is needed now," the Ambassador said.

Around four in the morning on March 29, Russia launched cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as Shahed drones. A large-scale air raid alert was announced in Ukraine. Energy facilities and civilian infrastructure came under attack. Poland scrambled its fighter jets.

The air defense forces destroyed 84 out of 99 targets in total. These included 26 missiles of various types and 58 attack drones, some of which flew over 2,000 kilometers.

In the Kyiv region, air defense systems shot down everying but several houses were damaged by the wreckage.

In the Vinnytsia region, a Shahed drone fell near a private house, detonating. Fortunately, no one was injured.

A power facility was damaged in the Cherkasy region. No one was injured.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, power facilities in three districts and a dacha cooperative were damaged, and a five-year-old child was injured.
