Occupiers wage war without rules, says deputy defense minister
Over the past month, the enemy has intensified shelling of Ukraine's border regions of Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy. Every day the occupiers open fire on civilians and destroy civilian infrastructure.
Anna Malyar, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, stated this on May 17. According to her, over the last week of May 8-16 alone, the army of the aggressor country shelled the mentioned regions 162 times.
Most of the shelling was recorded in Sumy region - 110. In Chernihiv Region - 29, in Kharkiv Region - 23.
The enemy uses different types of weapons, destroying kindergartens, hospitals and schools.
"There are dead and wounded, including children. Russia is waging a war without rules and systematically violates the norms of international humanitarian law," Malyar stressed.
She added that with artillery and air strikes the enemy is also trying to keep Ukrainian troops in tension and prevent them from being engaged in other directions.
It should be noted that on Wednesday, the head of the Chernihiv regional military administration Vyacheslav Chaus said that in Chernihiv region since last April 18 people were killed and 17 were wounded by the occupants of the Ukrainian border regions.
More than a year ago, the enemy was driven out of the region, but 49 settlements of the region are still exposed to constant shelling.

- Lyudmila Gulzo, a teacher from Sumy region, became a border guard after losing both of her sons. She has been serving in the border guard unit for a year and a half now.
- On May 11, the occupants fired mortars and SAU at Sumy region. As a result of the attack a man was killed.
- On May 12, the enemy struck at the border of Chernihiv region. On May 12, the enemy struck at the frontier of Chernigov Region. A fire broke out in houses and people were injured.
- As a result of the shelling of Dvurechnaya in Kharkiv region on May 15, two people were killed and one more was wounded.
