On the night of August 30, Russian troops staged a new attack on Ukraine. An air alert was declared across the country.

At around 5 a.m., air defense systems work was reported in Cherkasy, Kyiv and the Kyiv region. There are dead and wounded as a result of missile debris falling on a business in the Ukrainian capital. An infrastructure facility was damaged in the Zhytomyr region.

Cherkasy region

The attack on the Cherkasy region was reported by the head of the Cherkasy regional civil-military administration Ihor Taburets.

The alarm in the Cherkasy region was announced as early as 00:28 at night. Local authorities warned of increased danger at 02:11.

Taburets reported the work of air defense at 04:46.

"Cherkasy region is still under the threat of cruise missiles. Air defense is working. Do not shoot the work of our defenders", the head of Cherkasy RMA wrote.

Subsequently, Taburets reported that one Russian missile was shot down over the Cherkasy region.

"Cherkasy region was on alert and under a constant threat of missile attacks from midnight to morning. However, under the reliable protection of our defenders as well. Air defense forces shot down a Russian missile over the region. People were not injured. There is no destruction either. This is the most important thing", the head of Cherkasy RMA said.

Zhytomyr region

An infrastructure object was hit by enemy kamikaze drones.

"The enemy attacked one of the infrastructure objects of the region with kamikaze drones. Thanks to the effective work of air defense units, part of the aerial targets were shot down. The debris of the downed drone partially damaged the infrastructure object and the railroad bed. Fire outbreaks caused by the enemy attack were promptly eliminated. The place of the incident is being investigated by representatives of law enforcement agencies", the head of Zhytomyr RMA Vitaly Bunechko said.

According to him, there are no victims or injured. Information on the scale of damage is being clarified.

"Thanks to the Air Defense Forces and all services involved in the elimination of consequences for effective work," Bunechko emphasized.

Kyiv

The explosions were reported in the Kyiv RMA: the air defense system was triggered in the capital. Explosions were heard at about 05:07.

"Air defense is working!" the message noted.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klychko urges Kyiv citizens to stay in shelters until the alarm is over.

"Explosions in the city. Stay in shelters!" he wrote at 05:13.

Klychko said that debris from downed rockets had fallen in two districts of the capital city at 05:24.

"Debris fell on the roof of the commercial premises in the Darnytskyi district. The fall of debris is recorded in the Shevchenkivsky as well. All services head to the place," the mayor wrote.

According to RMA, debris fell on the building. Information on the damage and victims is established.

"The debris fell on the territory of a non-residential building in the Shevchenkivskiy district. Information about the damage and victims is being clarified", RMA head Serhiy Popko said.

Ambulances rushed to the site in the Shevchenkivsky district.

"Medics went on calls to two addresses. All details later," he noted.

The victims were not found. However, soon the ambulance received a third call. Medics hospitalized a 24-year-old girl: she received cut wounds from glass fragments.

Fires broke out at the places where the debris fell in the capital.

"Fire and rescue services extinguish the fire in the Darnytskyi district after the fall of debris on the roof of the commercial premises. There was a fire in the administrative building in the Shevchenkivskyi district," Klychko said at 05:44.

"Fires were in both districts. The state emergency service is working on liquidation. Information about the victims is specified", RMA added.

Another place of falling debris was found in the Shevchenkivskyi district closer to 6 a.m.

"Another place of falling debris. There is a fire in the open area," the mayor of the capital said.

It became known about two dead as a result of the fall of debris in the Shevchenkivskyi district at 6 a.m.

"Unfortunately, as a result of the fall of debris in the Shevchenkivsky district of Kyiv, 2 people died on the territory of the enterprise. Another woman was injured. She is being treated," Popko said.

Later, the RMA specified that the guards of the enterprise in the Shevchenkivskyi district were killed.

"They were young boys: 26 and 36 years", the message stated.

"The enemy committed another shelling of Kyiv today at about 05:00 a.m. As a result, the roof of the shopping mall in the Darnytsyi district of the city is damaged, as well as industrial buildings and multi-story houses in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Unfortunately, two employees of the company born in 1987 and 1997 were killed. Three more citizens were injured. Investigative and operational teams and criminalists are documenting the consequences of the Russian attack on Kyi," the Kyiv police added.

Rocket debris fell in two areas of the capital.

"Fire and rescue services continue to work at the sites of falling debris. In particular, in the Darnytskyi district. In four places in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital in particular," Klychko said.

According to the head of RMA, such a massive attack the capital was the biggest since the spring of this year.

"Kyi has not felt such a powerful attack since spring. The enemy launched a massive, combined attack using drones and missiles. First, the Russians used strike UAVs (Shahed kamikaze drones). Several groups of drones headed for Kyiv from different directions. Soon missiles were launched from the Tu-95ms strategic aviation aircraft," Popko said.

He added that Ukrainian air defense over the capital had previously shot down at least 20 enemy air targets.

Kyiv region

Air defense began to work also in the Kyiv region at about 5 a.m.

"Residents of the Kyiv region! Missile attack! Air defense forces are already working in the region. Observe information silence. We urge you not to film or post the work of our defenders! Take care of your safety, stay in shelters or observe the "two walls" rules during the air alert signal", the message of the Kyiv regional military administration said, which was published at 05:09.

Subsequently, the head of the Kyiv region police Andriy Nebytov reported falling debris of downed aerial targets in the region. Residential houses were damaged, as well as one of the cemeteries.

"The consequences of the night attack of the occupant are recorded by the police of the Kyiv region. Private houses were damaged as a result of the fall of missile debris in one of the districts of the region. Fortunately, there are no casualties. Falling debris of the Russian missile found on the territory of the local cemetery, where there was a fire, which the employees of the state emergency services managed to extinguish quickly," Nebytov said.

He also reported that a two-story building was damaged as a result of an attack by kamikaze drones in another locality in the region. A fire broke out there. The watchman did not ignore the alarm notification and went into hiding, which saved his life.

"Once again I urge citizens not to ignore the air alarm signals, but to go to bomb shelters in time as your health and life depend on it," Nebytov wrote.

According to the head of the police of Kyiv region, more than six residential houses were damaged and civilians were wounded.

"More than 6 private houses are damaged as a result of falling debris of missiles and drones in one more district of the Kyiv region. A 69-year-old woman received burns. 43-year-old and 49-year-old men in one of the houses had cut wounds. Garage buildings and two cars were destroyed," Nebytov said.

Private houses were also damaged in another district of the Kyiv region. The roofing and windows were damaged. There was also a fire of the grass deck, which rescuers managed to extinguish quickly.

"Emergency services are working at the sites. Police officers are inspecting and recording the consequences of the night enemy strike. I thank our air defense forces for the effective destruction of deadly weapons of the Russian Federation," Nebytov noted.

According to the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Situations Service, there were fires and destruction of residential houses, as well as burning of grass decking as a result of a massive enemy attack and air defense work in the Fastivskyi and Buchanskyi districts of Kyiv region on the night of August 30.

"A total of 35 personnel of the State Emergency Situations Service and 8 units of special equipment were involved to eliminate the consequences of enemy attack. All fires were successfully eliminated", the rescuers said.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the enemy launched 44 cruise missiles and kamikaze drones on Ukraine during the night of August 30.

"A total of 44 enemy air targets were recorded: 28 X-101/X-555/X-55 air-to-air of missiles fired from 11 Tu-95ms strategic aviation aircraft from the Caspian Sea and Engels area. 16 Shahed-136/13 kamikaze UAVs were launched from the southern and northern directions (Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk)," the AFU said.

Air defense forces repelled the attack of the aggressor state.

"Air defense worked along the route of missiles and drones in several regions of Ukraine. That includes anti-aircraft missile forces, fighter aviation, mobile fire groups and other means of defeat. Forces and means of air defense of the Air Force in cooperation with the Air Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed 43 aerial targets over the Kyiv, Cherkasy, Odessa and Mykolayiv regions: 28 X-101 / X-555 / X-55 cruise missiles and 15 kamikaze UAVs", the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.

Russia launched missile strikes on Poltava and Kryvyi Rih regions onAugust 28. An industrial infrastructure was hit in Poltava and a residential on in Kryvyi Rih.
