Russia loses four S-400 systems in a week
The aggressor country Russia has probably lost four S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems over the past week. They were destroyed by Ukrainian strikes in the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Luhansk region.
This fact suggests that it is becoming increasingly difficult for the Russian air defense to withstand the modern high-precision strike weapons of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This is stated in the UK intelligence report of November 2.
Experts recalled a report in the Russian media on October 26, in which propagandists admitted the loss of three S-400 systems (SA-21 according to NATO codification) in the Luhansk region the day before. On October 30, Ukrainian sources also confirmed the destruction of such a complex in Crimea.
"Russia has long favored large-scale, high-tech, long-range air defense systems as a key component of its military strategy. The recent losses highlight that Russia's combined air defense system is struggling to withstand modern precision strike weapons," the British intelligence service concluded.
The agency expects that further such strikes are likely to increase the "already significant" burden on the remaining Russian air defense systems and operators.
At the same time, the intelligence officers are convinced that the occupiers' replacement of the already destroyed systems will still weaken Russian air defense, particularly in other operational areas.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the Russian Defense Ministry admitted that on October 25, "two ATACMS missiles" attacked their positions in the Luhansk region. However, it has been established that there were actually three missiles, two of which flew directly at Russian air defense positions.
On October 30, a strike on Russian air defense took place near the village of Molochne in the Saki district of Crimea. It damaged a S-300 air defense system and a diesel generator. However, British intelligence indicates that the S-400 was destroyed.
