Russia launches record number of drones at Ukraine: more than two hundred targets terrorized the country overnight
On the night of February 23, Russia staged another massive drone attack against Ukraine: the enemy launched a record two and a half hundred UAVs of various types, most of which were destroyed, while one of them returned to Russia. The war criminals also used ballistic missiles.
The enemy's actions affected Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Poltava, Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia regions. The results of the combat work, which lasted from 19:00 yesterday, were reported by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In particular, Russia used 267 Shahed attack UAVs and decoy drones of various types (launched from the Russian cities of Orel, Bryansk, Kursk, Shatalovo, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Ukrainian Cape Chauda of the temporarily occupied Crimea), as well as 3 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles (from Crimea).
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defense Forces were involved in the repulsion of the attack. As of 08:00, 138 drones were confirmed to have been shot down in 13 regions (Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kropyvnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Dnipro).
"119 enemy decoy drones were lost locationally (no consequences recorded), three of which turned to Belarus and one - to Russia," the Air Force added.
In the evening of February 22, Russia attacked Kryvyi Rih in Dnipro region with ballistic missiles, killing a person and injuring more. Residential buildings, a church, asocial institution, an enterprise, a gas station, and cars were damaged in the city.
At night, air defense forces destroyed 27 drones over Cherkasy region, 5 over Sumy region, 3 over Dnipropetrovsk region, and the same number over Mykolaiv region.
9 UAVs were shot down in Khmelnytskyi region: the enemy attack damaged a high-voltage power line, a roadway, indoor windows, and a shop window.
Damage was also reported in three districts of Kyiv as a result of Russian drone attack. In Zaporizhzhia, a two-story residential building and a truck caught fire, and a woman was injured.
In Odesa region, a UAV strike set fire to a private house in Odesa district, injuring three people.
Former Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat emphasized that on the night of February 23, 2025, Russia used a record number of drones in a single attack since the start of the full-scale war on February 24, 22.
As reported, on the night of February 22, the Ukrainian defenders shot down 82 out of 162 Russian drones, while 75 decoy UAVs were lost localionally. The enemy attack affected Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kropyvnytskyi, and Dnipro regions.
