Russia launched Shahed drones on Kyiv: 26 targets destroyed

On the night of September 10, Russian troops attacked Kyiv with Iranian kamikaze drones. They entered the capital in groups from different directions.

Air Defense Forces destroyed more than 20 hostile targets, according to Kyiv RMA. Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine specified that 26 drones out of 33 were eliminated.

"This night the enemy attacked Kyiv with Shahed drones. They headed to the capital in groups from different directions. Air Defense Forces managed to destroy more than two dozen enemy UAVs. The exact data on the number of downed drones and their type will be made public by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," said KMVA chief Sergei Popko.

According to the General Staff of the AFU, the occupants attacked Ukraine with 32 kamikaze drones, 25 of which were destroyed by Ukrainian Air Defense assets. The Russian occupiers directed most of the attack UAVs at the Kyiv region.

Air Force then published clarified information.

"On the night of September 10, 2023, the enemy attacked Ukraine from the northern direction (Kursk, RF). 33 Shahed drones were recorded in the direction of the Kyiv region. As a result of combat work by the forces and means of the Air Force in cooperation with the air defense of other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, 26 targets were destroyed," the report said.

The Kyiv RMA noted that the drones did not reach their targets due to the excellent work of the Air Defense Forces. However, the debris of downed UAVs fell in several districts of the capital.

"An apartment in a high-rise building was damaged in the Shevchenkivskyi district. However, most of the debris fell on open, undeveloped territory. Cars, trolleybus power lines and roads were damaged. It is known about one victim, there are no threats to his life", Popko said.

He added that the operational data is still being clarified.

"I thank our heroes from the Air Defense for the excellent work. The best way to thank them properly is to find funds and donate. Support the warriors every day!" Popko urged.

More details about the consequences of the fall of debris in three districts of the capital were shared by the State Emergency Service.

They noted that the fall of debris was recorded in the Shevchenkivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi and Podilskyi districts of the city.

Shevchenkivskyi district. Rescuers liquidated the grass deck and wooden sleepers that caught fire in the open area. The call was received at 01:36. The fire was liquidated at 02:49 on a total area of 4 square meters.

As a result of debris fall, one of the apartments on the 24th floor of a 25-story residential building had damaged windows and personal belongings, no fire and no casualties were recorded.

Podilskyi district. There was a fall of debris in an open area. No fire, casualties or damage to structures were recorded.

As a result of falling debris, a parked car, road signs and trolleybus power lines were damaged. There were no fires or casualties.

Sviatoshynskyi district. Rescuers extinguished the fire in the open area. As a result of falling debris, a bench and a camping table caught fire. The fire of 5 square meters was eliminated.

35 rescuers and 7 units of basic and special fire-rescue equipment worked on the sites of falling debris of enemy drones.
