Russia is spreading a ridiculous fake about Zaluzhnyi's arrest: what is wrong with it
Pro-Kremlin propaganda continues spreading fakes about a "conflict" between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and former Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi. Recently, the enemy began spreading false reports that the general was arrested and "kept under heavy security."
This information is not true. This was reported by the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security on the SPRAVDI Telegram channel.
The Russians are trying to convince citizens that Zelenskyy allegedly "ordered the arrest of Zaluzhnyi because of political competition." The enemy also claims in its Telegram publics that the SSU has been ordered to keep the former Armed Forces chief under heavy security.
A similar propaganda piece was launched back in 2023. At the time, the Russians wrote that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Zaluzhnyi, and the Commander of the Land Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, were arrested for "disagreeing with the president's position."
SPRAVDI emphasized, "Zaluzhny was appointed ambassador to the United Kingdom after his dismissal on February 8, 2024. On March 7, the head of state approved his candidacy."
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated that Zaluzhnyi's advantage in this position would be his military background.
On April 26, the general appeared in a photo for the first time in a long time. It was posted on Facebook by Maryna Shashkova, a political columnist for the Telegraf.
The fake news about the general is another attempt by pro-Kremlin propaganda to fuel the narrative of the "Zelenskyy and Zaluzhnyi conflict."
As previously reported, in late April, Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that London had already approved the candidacy of Valerii Zaluzhnyi as Ukraine's ambassador to the UK. The military officer may begin his new duties in a few weeks.
