Russia has lost 3,000 officers since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine: 800 of them were of high ranks

The actual number of deaths, as researchers point out, is much higher

Journalists from the BBC Russian Service and Mediazona, together with a team of volunteers, have identified 43,014 Russian occupiers who were killed in the war in Ukraine . Real losses exceed this figure by at least two times.

This was reported by the BBC. In the last two weeks alone, researchers have confirmed the deaths of almost 1,300 soldiers.

It is noted that Russia continues to lose highly qualified personnel at the front. In total, 3,079 officers have been confirmed dead since the start of the full-scale invasion. 800 of them were of high ranks.

At the same time, the loss of junior officers has the greatest impact on the combat capability of the units. As of today, 2,278 soldiers with the rank of lieutenant to captain have been killed.

"According to experts, their loss leads to a serious loss of tactical coherence. Simply put, the units start acting differently, interfering with each other on the battlefield and coming under friendly fire," the journalists write.

At the same time, the main burden at the front is now on the mobilized, volunteers and prisoners. The recruitment of the latter in the colonies has been active in recent months.

According to researchers, the actual number of deaths is much higher. They only keep statistics based on open data, which includes statements by officials, the media, posts by relatives of the deceased soldiers on social media, and information from the gravesites. In total, according to minimal estimates, the actual number of dead may be at least 86,000.

It is worth noting that according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the losses of enemy troops in the war against our country have already reached 380,600 people.
