Russia could have used thermobaric weapons to strike a house in Odesa: Kovalenko points out the nuances

A Russian terrorist attack in Odesa involving a kamikaze drone strike on a multi-story building caused significant damage and tragic consequences. The scale of the destruction of the residential building suggests that the occupiers could have used a thermobaric warhead in the drone.

If this version is confirmed, we can say that the Russians have reached a completely different level of terror against the civilian population. This was stated on OBOZTV by Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political observer of the Information Resistance group.

According to him, the Russian fake that the destruction of the building was allegedly caused by air defense systems is easily debunked. Elements of a Shahed-136 kamikaze drone were found at the site of the attack. In addition, there is video evidence that the UAV was sent directly into the house.

Kovalenko also emphasized that final conclusions should be drawn after the results of the official examination. But even at this stage, it can be stated that the power of the explosion was quite large for a Shahed-136 kamikaze drone.

"In principle, the Shahed-136 has a powerful warhead for a kamikaze drone. But to completely destroy the entrance... If you pay attention to how the blast wave was distributed in the city after the hit, what shape it was, and how the structural elements of the building itself, the concrete structure, were destroyed, then I personally have an opinion that a thermobaric warhead was used," Kovalenko said.

In addition, he explained that a conventional Shahed-136 warhead weighing 30-40 kg does not produce such results unless it is a thermobaric projectile. Kovalenko emphasized that if this version is confirmed, we can say that the occupiers have reached a completely different level of terror against the civilian population.

"They have long been trying to improve the properties of the warhead of the kamikaze drones, they added, for example, fragmentation elements, and not only to have more fragmentation effect during the explosion. However, the power of the warhead itself can only be increased by changing its chemical composition. And it is thermobaric mixtures that are the most powerful after nuclear weapons. If we are talking, for example, about the equivalent of 40 kilograms of trinitropugol or hioxane, the thermobaric mixture will still be much more powerful," Kovalenko explained.

On the night of March 2, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 17 drones. Air defense forces shot down 14 of them. In Odesa, a Shahed hit a residential high-rise building and completely destroyed the entrance.

Earlier it was reported that a large military family was killed in a Russian terrorist attack. Rescuers found a man with his wife and one child under the rubble. The bodies of their two other children were found later.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, three children were among the victims of the terrorist attack: boys aged 3 years and 4 months, as well as an 8-month-old girl. In particular, a 4-month-old baby died with his mother. A three-year-old boy was killed with his father, and the child's mother was hospitalized in intensive care in serious condition. Another mother and child were found under the rubble on the morning of March 3.
