Russia attacks Ukraine with missiles and drones: frontline regions affected, air defense shoots down eight Shahed UAVs

On the night of August 25, the aggressor country Russia attacked Ukraine with eight missiles and nine Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones. The invaders encroached on the frontline regions, but they did not achieve their desired targets.

The defenders of the sky managed to shoot down eight drones. This was reported by the commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk.

"The enemy launched missiles of various types. Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions were attacked," he said.

In particular, the aggressor used ground-launched missiles from Voronezh and Rostov regions of the Russian Federation: an Iskander-K cruise missile and an Iskander-M ballistic missile. In addition, six X-59/X-69 guided missiles were launched from the airspace of the Kursk and Belgorod regions of the Russian Federation.

"Due to the active counteraction of the Ukrainian Defense Forces , most of the missiles did not reach their targets," the Air Force commander emphasized.

At the same time, the occupiers launched nine Shahed drones from Cape Chauda in the temporarily occupied Crimea. Of these, eight drones were shot down by mobile firing groups in Mykolaiv region: the debris damaged residential buildings and outbuildings, and dry grass also caught fire.
