DIU shows how aggregate plant in Vovchansk was liberated. Source: Ukrainian truth
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine showed exclusive footage of the operation to liberate the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant in Kharkiv region from Russian occupants. The enemy was pushed out of this place at the end of September 2024.
The operation was carried out by fighters of the Timur special forces unit. The video was published on the DIU's Telegram channel on Wednesday, January 1.
They emphasized that the storming and clearing of 40 buildings of the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant was one of the most difficult front-line missions of 2024, carried out by the special forces soldiers. The intelligence service noted that they decided to release this footage on Stepan Bandera's birthday, as it shows the armed struggle for freedom that he inspired.
"Independence can be maintained only after a significant struggle, shedding the 'blood of the nation', after which freedom acquires true value. This is what Stepan Bandera said," the message reads.
In the video, Ukrainian defenders can be seen conducting assault operations, providing fire support from a 120-mm mortar, capturing Russian occupiers, and working as combat medics.
Fighting for the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant
On September 24, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that soldiers had liberated the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant from Russian army soldiers. It was the main strategic facility in Vovchansk controlled by the occupiers. They captured it during the offensive in the north of Kharkiv region and turned it into a propaganda "fortress."
The Russians engaged the most motivated and professional units in the defense of the plant The operation to liberate the building was carried out by special groups of the DIU "Stugna", "Paragon", RDC, "Junger", BDK, and "Terror."
The fighters engaged in contact battles with the Russian occupiers in dense buildings.
Despite the enemy's attempts to stop the assaults with the help of anti-aircraft guns and constant shelling, Ukrainian defenders managed to drive the Russians out.
As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi named the main achievements of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the battlefield in 2024. He noted that "war dictates its own difficult realities."
