On whom Ukraine's invitation to NATO depends: Zelensky names two countries

The decision to invite Ukraine to the Alliance depends on the United States and Germany.

The decision to invite Ukraine to join the Alliance depends on two countries. These are the United States and Germany.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at a press conference. It took place on Sunday, February 25, in Kyiv.

"At the moment, the invitation depends on, with all due respect to all partners, all partners, in principle, support Ukraine in extending an invitation to us and everyone believes that in the future Ukraine will be in the Alliance. But this decision depends on the United States and Germany. This is a fact," Zelensky said, answering a journalist's question about the NATO summit in Washington.

According to the president, he sees no risks in inviting Ukraine to NATO.

"The risks that are being voiced behind the scenes relate to the inadequacy of the Russian dictator's reaction to Ukraine's membership in NATO. I believe that there are no risks in the invitation," the head of state summarized.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky announced for the first time the losses of the Defense Forces in the war with Russia. According to him, 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers paid with their lives to deter Russian aggression and liberate the occupied territories.
