Oil pumping station ceases operation in Russian Krasnodar region after drone strike: Security Service of Ukraine shares details
On February 20, Ukrainian UAVs cut off power at the Novovelichkovskaya oil pumping station in Russian Krasnodar Territory, forcing it to cease operation. It is one of the key oil transportation stations in Kuban as it supplies oil to the Afip and Ilya refineries.
As OBOZ.UA has learned, the Security Service of Ukraine is behind the operation. Their drones struck the 110/35/10 kV power substation that supplies the facility.
A fire broke out there, which caused a complete blackout and an emergency shutdown.
"This is our eighth successful operation since the beginning of the year aimed at destroying Russian oil refineries and oil pumping facilities. Each such strike brings multimillion-dollar losses to Russia and complicates the supply of fuel to the Russian army," a source at the agency said.
Chernomortransneft (a subsidiary of Russia's Transneft) completed the construction of the Novovelichkovskaya intermediate station NPS-3 in August 2019.
The said oil pumping station operates on the Tikhoretsk-Novorossiysk-3 main oil pipeline and the new Novovelichkovskaya-Krasnodar oil pipeline.
As reported, on the night of February 19, UAVs attacked Russia's Samara region, hitting the Syzran oil refinery.
Earlier, on January 17, the Ilya oil refinery in the Krasnodar Territory was targeted, after which the Kropotkinskaya and Andreapol oil refineries ceased operation too.
