How many children have died because of the full-scale war launched by Russia against Ukraine
Juvenile prosecutors have confirmed the deaths of 500 Ukrainian children due to the full-scale Russian invasion as of the morning of August 13, 2023. More than 1,097 minors were injured of varying degrees of severity.
The statistics were released by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine on Telegram channel. The agency emphasized: the figures indicated are not final.
"Work continues in places of hostilities, as well as in temporarily occupied and liberated territories", PGO said.
Which regions have the highest number of children wounded or killed:
- Donetsk - 485;
- Kharkiv - 298;
- Kyiv - 129;
- Kherson - 118;
- Zaporizhzhia - 99;
- Mykolaiv - 97;
- Dnipro - 94;
- Chernihiv - 71;
- Luhansk - 67.
As previously reported by OBOZREVATEL, according to the Ministry of Justice, 96.7 thousand children were born in Ukraine for the first six months of 2023. For comparison, 135 thousand children were born before the full-scale war in the first half of 2021. The drop amounted to 28%.
