"Most of them died": the DIU told about the fate of the crew of the Caesar Kunikov and what was on board

The occupiers are unlikely to be able to restore the sunken ship

Most of the crew of the Caesar Kunikov large amphibious assault ship, which was sunk near occupied Alupka, were killed. The ship was carrying a cargo of ammunition, but it sank to the bottom of the Black Sea, and the occupiers are unlikely to be able to recover it.

This was stated by the spokesman for the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Andriy Yusov in an exclusive commentary to OBOZ.UA.

"Most of the crew of the destroyed Caesar Kunikov was killed. According to the DIU, the ship was carrying a cargo of ammunition. The ship sank and is beyond recovery, " he said.

As of 13:30 on Wednesday, February 14, Ukraine has no data on the exact number of people killed on the Caesar Kunikov.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- On the morning of February 14, explosions were heard in Yalta, Alupka and Miskhor in occupied Crimea. The network reported an attack on a ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, enemy helicopters flew over the sea, and another ship came to the "drowning" ship to help.

- The DIU and the Armed Forces confirmed the defeat of the Caesar Kunikov Project 775 ship. According to OBOZ.UA sources, the attack was carried out using surface drones.

- Earlier it was reported that the crew of the Caesar Kunikov failed to escape.

- The DIU showed footage of the destruction of the Caesar Kunikov by naval UAVs.

- The Kremlin could not answer the propagandists why Russia was losing ships. Russian Presidential Secretary Dmitry Peskov advised to "focus" on the statements of the Russian Defense Ministry.

- The network drew attention to a nuance: it was on February 14, 1943, that the hero of the USSR, Cesar Kunikov, died, in whose honor the Large amphibious assault ship was named.

- It is known that Caesar Kunikov distinguished himself during the Russian aggression in Georgia. It was based in Sevastopol, its tail number was 158.

- The network exploded with jokes and memes after Russia lost the Caesar Kunikov on Valentine's Day.

- The Strategic Communications Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that about a third of the Russian Black Sea Fleet has been put out of action. Twenty-four ships and one submarine (not counting the Caesar Kunikov) have been sunk or severely damaged. In total, the Black Sea Fleet had 74 warships in service.
