"I've been waiting for this for two and a half years": video with border guards released from Russian captivity

As part of the 57th prisoner exchange, which took place on September 14, eight Ukrainian border guards returned home from Russian captivity. The SBGS shared a touching video of the meeting of our Heroes.

The video was published on the State Border Guard Service's Telegram channel. As a reminder, 103 defenders returned to Ukraine on September 14, and 49 people returned a day earlier, on September 13.

"Wiping tears from their eyes, the border guards are happy to be back home. They still can't believe that this is really happening. Nor that they can finally speak Ukrainian. However, they, like other defenders of Ukraine, are here at home, shouting Ukrainian slogans and singing the national anthem," the SBGS press service wrote.

One of the released soldiers confessed:"I have been waiting for this for two and a half years."

Another said his feelings were indescribable."Especially when I spoke Russian for two and a half years, and now I was finally able to communicate in our nightingale, beautiful, wonderful language. It's just a balm for my soul. Finally, " said Hero.

He added that what he wanted most in captivity was to talk to his family, to hear their voices, to find out how they were doing.

Ukrainians who returned from captivity on September 14

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

- On September 13, 49 Ukrainians returned home during a prisoner exchange, including 15 Azovstal defenders.

- On September 14 , another 103 people were returned from captivity: 82 privates and sergeants and 21 officers. Among the Hers were 23 soldiers who were part of the Azov Regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine.

- As a result of the exchanges on September 13-14, 147 Russian army servicemen who surrendered to Ukrainian defenders in the Kursk region went to Russia. Most of them were conscripts.
