"It's time to wake up": Borrell says the outcome of the war in Ukraine may be decided in the coming months

It's time for Europe to "wake up" and realize what a dangerous world it exists in and increase its support for Ukraine. According to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, the outcome of the Russian-Ukrainian war may be decided in the coming months.

The European top diplomat said this in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El País, which was published on February 25. He noted that the EU countries have jointly outpaced the United States in "civilian, military, economic and humanitarian assistance" to Kyiv.

But this is not a reason to relax - Europeans need to "provide more help and faster," Borrell said.

He explained that EU states are not directly involved in the war, so they "do not fully understand" its importance.

"Russia is an undemocratic regime capable of destroying its opponents, such as [Alexei] Navalny, or eliminating defectors on European soil. Do we want it to appear on Europe's doorstep and control 36% of the global grain market?" the head of European diplomacy asked a rhetorical question.

Borel called on Europeans to wake up, support Ukraine, and improve the defense capabilities of their own countries.
