On Saturday, September 21, Ukrainian troops continued offensive operations in the Kursk region. The Russian command deployed additional units to the region, in particular from the Kharkiv and Chasiv Yar directions.

This is stated in the analysis of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW). Russian military bloggers claimed that Ukrainian troops tried to attack the enemy in the western part of Liubimovka and in the direction of Kamyshovka.

At the same time, the Russians have recently recaptured some of the territory seized by AFU. Geolocation footage published on September 21 indicates that elements of the Russian 83rd Air Assault Brigade recently advanced south of Kamyshovka after a platoon mechanized attack.

Russian military bloggers also claim that the occupiers counterattacked near Liubimovka, and that fighting continues southeast of Snagost near Nikolayevo-Darino and east of Korenevo near Kremianoye.

According to Ukrainian military observer Kostiantyn Mashovets:

- Units of the 810th Naval Infantry Brigade (Black Sea Fleet, Southern Military District) are advancing towards the settlements of Kamennoye and Vetrenoye.

- Units of the 51st and the 56th Airborne Regiments are advancing in the direction of Liubimovka and Darino.

- Units of the 200th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade (14th Army Corps, Leningrad Military District) are advancing in the area of Pogrebki (north of Sudzha).

Mashovets said that the occupiers have moved to the Kursk region:

- Units of the 137th and 119th Regiments of the 106th Airborne Division from the direction of Chasiv Yar and from the operational reserve.

- Up to two additional howitzer divisions of the 52nd VDV Artillery Brigade from the Kharkiv direction.

- Additional battalion and company-level units from other unidentified units.

Also, according to the military observer, Russians are restoring temporary pontoon crossings in the Glushkovsky district near Zvannoye and Glushkovo, and recently repaired a bridge near Zvanoye.

Vadym Mysnyk, a spokesman for the North operational command, said that Russians had dropped more than 1,300 glide bombs on areas of Kursk region where Ukrainian troops are operating. He suggested that Russian citizens were "shocked" by the bombing of Russian territory. Units of Russia's 234th Air Assault Regiment are reportedly operating near Glushkovo.

The ISW also reported that the Russian authorities knew in advance about the preparation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for an operation in the Kursk region. However, the occupation command ignored all the reports of its military about the growing threat and did not make any significant efforts to increase the readiness of military units.

The results of a poll of Russians by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) showed that Russians' interest in the fighting in the Kursk region decreased threefold after the Ukrainian army's breakthrough. Since the beginning of August, when Ukrainian troops entered the region, the number of those interested in this topic has dropped from 39% to 12%.
