In Zaporizhzhia, a Russian attack destroyed the UOC-MP Cathedral, and the ceiling collapsed. Photos and video
A Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia on January 18 damaged St. Andrew's Cathedral of the UOC-MP. It happened the day before Epiphany according to the Julian calendar.
Two people were in the church during the attack. They were not injured, Archpriest Kostiantyn Kostiukovych told the regional news agency Melitopol.
There is considerable damage inside the cathedral – the ceiling collapsed.
"There was a man on duty who stays around the clock, and one woman parishioner who always comes early. He let her in, and when they came in, there was an explosion. No one was hurt, thank God, but you can see for yourself what this explosion did," the clergyman said.
As a reminder, an infrastructure facility was hit in Zaporizhzhia, and residential buildings were also damaged. As a result of the Russian attack, 10 people were injured, the fate of three is unknown.
The Zaporizhia Regional Administration clarified that the victims were diagnosed with shrapnel wounds, cut wounds, concussion, bruises, and fractures.
"A woman in serious condition and a man with cut wounds, whose condition is assessed as moderate, remain under medical supervision. Eight people will be treated on an outpatient basis," the press service said.
