How many Germans believe that Ukraine should cede territories to Russia for peace: poll results

The issue of the temporarily occupied Crimea also caused mixed views

Almost half of German residents believe that Ukraine should cede part of its territories to achieve peace. At the same time, more than a third of Germans oppose any territorial concessions.

This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by YouGov, DPA reports. According to the survey, 45% of respondents support the idea of territorial concessions by Ukraine in exchange for peace with Russia.

At the same time, 39% oppose such actions and are convinced that Ukraine should not give up any of its land.

The issue of the temporarily occupied Crimea also caused mixed views. 22% of respondents believe that Ukraine should recognize the loss of Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014. Another 23% of respondents suggest that Kyiv should make even greater concessions, giving up not only Crimea but also the territories occupied by Russia after February 2022.

The poll also showed that Germans are divided on the issue of Ukraine's use of long-range Western weapons to strike Russian territory. 42% of respondents support this possibility, while 43% oppose it.

To recap, more than 80% of Ukrainians believe that Ukraine can succeed in a war unleashed by Russia, provided that it receives adequate support from the West. Compared to December 2023, this percentage has decreased in all regions except the West.

Despite regular shelling of Ukraine's energy facilities by the occupiers, the vast majority of citizens plan to stay at home in winter. 89% of respondents will spend the upcoming fall and winter period at their place of residence.
