General Staff: enemy storms Ukrainian troops in Vovchansk and attacks Lyptsi from the air

Russian occupation forces continue offensive actions on the frontline – in particular, the enemy is storming Ukrainian troops in Vovchansk and attacking Liptsi from the air . At the moment, the Pokrovsk sector is the most active.

Ukrainian soldiers are holding the line of defense and responding fiercely to the invaders' actions. This is stated in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 16:50 on Thursday, May 16.

The number of combat engagements increased to 79 today.

The fighting in the Kharkiv region continues, and since the beginning of the day, Russian enemy forces have attacked the positions of our troops five times. The enemy is trying to break through the defenses near the town of Vovchansk and launches a missile attack on Lyptsi. There were also air attacks in Vesele and Udy.

As a result of these hostilities, the enemy lost 35 occupants, and our troops destroyed 14 units of enemy equipment.

Another enemy attack took place in the Kupiansk sector. As of now, a total of four combat engagements took place there. There were five attacks in the Liman sector, one of which is still ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk sector, enemy forces attempted to break through the defense 13 times, including an air strike in Chasovyi Yar. In the Pokrovsk sector, the number of clashes increased to 30, and there were air strikes near Umanske.

In the Kurakhove sector, Russian troops attempted eight assault operations but were repelled near Kostiantynivka, Novomykhailivka, and Krasnohorivka. In the Vremivsk sector, there were also eight attempts to push our positions, but the enemy was repelled near Staromayorske, Mykilske, and Urozhayne.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, the occupants continued to try to force our defenders out of Krynky and attacked their positions six times before retreating.

The situation in other sectors remains stable. Our military continues to hold back the enemy along the entire front line and inflict maximum losses on them.

It is worth noting that the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kharkiv region are clearing the northern part of Vovchansk and the city itself. The Ukrainian military is working to stabilize the situation, inflicting fire on the enemy and preventing Russian occupation forces from gaining a foothold.
