General Staff: AFU has partial success south of Robotyne, with 69 military clashes occuring during the day
Ukrainian forces continue an active offensive in the Melitopol direction, achieving partial success south of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. Our troops inflict significant losses on the occupation forces both in personnel and equipment, depleting the enemy along the entire front line.
A total of 69 combat engagements took place on the frontline yesterday. This is stated in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on October 18, 2023.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to defend the east and south of the country, conducting offensive operations in the Melitopol and Bakhmut directions. The defenders are liberating the temporarily occupied territories step by step, consolidating their positions.
Over the past day, the enemy carried out 3 missile and 35 air strikes, as well as 39 fired at the positions of our troops and settlements from multiple rocket launchers. They also used X-59 guided missiles, S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles and 6 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs.
The air defense forces destroyed one X-59 guided missile and 6 Shahed UAVs. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist actions resulted in civilian casualties and injuries, as well as damage to private homes and other civilian infrastructure.
As a result of the occupiers' war crimes, the following settlements were affected: Mykolaivka in the Sumy region; Serebrianske Forest, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region; Spirne, Vesele, New York, Avdiivka, Stepove, Marinka, Novomykhailivka, Urozhaine, Staromaiorske, Rivne in the Donetsk region; and Beryslav and Vesele in the Kherson region.
Approximately one hundred settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions came under artillery fire.
The situation in Volyn and Polissia axes in the area of operation of the "Pivnich" Operational-Strategic Group remains stable without significant changes.
The enemy continues to maintain a military presence in the border areas in the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, carrying out active sabotage actions aimed at preventing the relocation of our troops to threatened areas. It is also increasing the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.
Ukrainian troops repelled more than 15 enemy attacks near the settlements of Synkivka, Ivanivka and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region in the area of operation of the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group in the Kupiansk direction, as well as another 9 attacks near Nadiia in the Luhansk region.
No enemy assault actions were recorded in the Lyman direction.
Enemy forces unsuccessfully tried to regain their lost positions near Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region in the Bakhmut direction. The Ukrainian defense forces are actively conducting offensive operations south of Bakhmut, inflicting significant losses on enemy manpower and equipment, and holding on to the achieved positions.
The occupants continue to try to encircle Avdiivka in the Avdiivka direction in the area of responsibility of the Tavria Brigade. Ukrainian defenders managed to repel 5 enemy attacks.
Our defenders repelled more than 20 enemy attacks in the area of Marinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region in the Marinka and Shakhtarsk directions, as well as two attacks south of Zolota Nyva and Prychystivka.
The enemy failed to regain lost ground southwest of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Ukrainian defenders are conducting counter-battery operations and striking at the enemy's rear in the Kherson direction in the area of the "Odesa" Operational-Strategic Group.
Over the past day, the aviation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out 15 strikes on areas where enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment are concentrated, and also conducted 3 strikes on enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.
Missile troops struck 5 control points, areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, ammunition depots, and artillery positions of the enemy.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, Russian occupants continue to try to encircle Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. They are trying to storm the city with large groups of infantry. The enemy mostly throws those mobilized in the temporarily occupied territories and prisoners from the Storm-Z units into battles.
According to the head of the Avdiivka military command, Vitaliy Barabash, Russia has now set a new deadline for the capture of the Donetsk region. Moscow demands that the occupiers reach the administrative border of the Donetsk region by December 31.
