The French arms company Thales has signed three agreements with the Ukrainian defense industry to strengthen operational support for the Ukrainian Defense Forces. They relate to plans for joint maintenance of air defense and electronic warfare systems, as well as the production of a new UAV.

This was announced on Thursday, June 19, on the company's website. The agreements were signed on behalf of Thales by Senior Executive Vice President for International Development Pascal Souris, Executive Vice President for Secure Communications and Information Systems Christophe Salomon, and Executive Vice President for Ground and Air Systems Hervé Damman.

As noted, the two agreements relate to one of the enterprises of the Ukrainian Defense Industry Joint Stock Company (formerly Ukroboronprom).

The first agreement announces Thales' intention to establish a joint venture in Ukraine to facilitate the supply and operation of equipment, including electronic warfare, tactical communications equipment, air defense systems and radars.

The second agreement concerns electronic warfare equipment, under which Thales will provide extensive maintenance, testing and specialized training of equipment in Ukraine.

The third agreement states the intention to develop and produce an unmanned aircraft system capable of carrying and launching ammunition together with FRDM.

"These agreements are aimed at strengthening operational support to the frontline operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and strengthening local defense capabilities," Thales commented.

Thales is a company jointly controlled by the French state and fighter jet manufacturer Dassault Aviation. It is the European leader in the production of air defense radars and the third in the world after Lockheed Martin and Raytheon.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the German arms concern Rheinmetall has agreed with Ukraine on the joint production of Lynx armored combat vehicles. The first such armored personnel carriers are to be built this year.
