Fighting continues in Kursk region and beyond: the General Staff names the hottest spots on the frontline

As of 4 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 108 combat engagements took place at the frontline since the beginning of the day. Most of the attacks were carried out by the Russian military in the Kursk sector, where the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 17 attacks and 45 more are ongoing.

Ukrainian defenders are disrupting the enemy's insidious plans, causing significant losses in manpower and equipment. This is stated in the operational report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the General Staff, border settlements continue to suffer from cynical shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation, in particular Karpovychi, Chernihiv region; Bila Bereza, Sumy region.

Situation on the contact line on January 6, 2025

In the Kharkiv sector, Ukrainian troops repelled two attacks near Vovchansk. The enemy attacked the areas of Orishanka and Udiv with guided bombs, and Hraniv in Kharkiv region with unguided aerial missiles, the report says.

In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy conducted three assault attacks near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Zahryzove. Two battles ended, and another one is ongoing.

In the Lyman sector, the aggressor's army attacked seven times near Nadiia, Pershotravneve, and Makiivka. As of 4 p.m., the fighting continues, the General Staff informed.

In the Siversk sector, Russian aviation struck Siversk using seven anti-aircraft gunships. The enemy attacked Ukrainians once in the area of Bilohorivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled three attempts of the invaders to advance in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, and in the direction of Stupochky. The occupants launched 24 multiple rocket launchers at Stupochky.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy attacked twice near Shcherbynivka. Katerynivka, Toretsk, and Oleksandro-Kalynove were hit by air strikes.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Russians made 16 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Tarasivka, Yelizavetivka, Lysivka, Zelene, Novyi Trud, and Pokrovsk.

The defense forces are holding back the enemy's offensive and repelled 12 attacks, with four battles continuing. Oleksandropil suffered an air strike.

In the Kurakhove sector, the enemy attacked seven times near Slovianka, Petropavlivka, Kurakhove, and Dachne. Six battles are over, and one more is ongoing. Andriivka came under attack from unmanned aerial vehicles.

In the Vremivsk sector, the occupants attacked four times near Kostiantynopol and Kostiantynopolske. One battle is ongoing. The enemy launched an air strike with unguided aerial missiles near Novopole.

In the Orikhiv sector, the enemy attacked once in the direction of Novodanylivka. He launched an air strike with unguided aerial missiles on Stepnohirsk.

The enemy did not conduct any offensive actions in the Huliaipillia and Prydniprovske directions, the General Staff reported.

Ukrainian soldiers repelled 17 invaders' attacks in the Kursk region, and 45 more battles are ongoing.

The situation in other frontline areas did not change significantly, the report said.
