"Defense is really heavy": Ukrainian Armed Forces tell about Russian tactics in the Kurakhove sector

Ukraine's armed forces continue to hold the line in the Kurakhove sector of Donetsk region, but it is extremely difficult. The Russian army is using a lot of mechanized assault groups there.

Nazar Voitenkov, acting press officer of the 33rd separate mechanized brigade, told Apostrophe TV. In their area of responsibility, the Russians are attacking on the left and right flanks, and the defense has become more difficult compared to the summer.

"The defense is really difficult, because Russian troops are engaging a lot of mechanized assault groups that are trying to gain a foothold in the forest belts, trying to break through our defense, they fail, there may be exceptional cases when they enter some forest belt, but they are destroyed by Ukrainian troops there," said the military.

According to him, the Kurakhove direction is currently one of the most difficult on the frontline. The Russian invaders managed to occupy the village of Maksymilianivka - in the area of this settlement the 33rd Brigade provides fire support to neighboring units that are trying to hold back the enemy there.

Voitenkov also said that Russian troops recently destroyed their own artillery group, and noted that due to the rains in Donetsk region, the invaders are using armored vehicles.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Russian occupation forces seized the largest territory in eastern Ukraine since the beginning of the year last week. More than 200 square kilometers were added to what the enemy captured during its summer offensive. Media reports indicate that Pokrovsk and Kurakhove are the Russians' next targets.

The Russian military command continues to send seriously wounded soldiers to the extremely exhausting infantry "meat" attacks in the Kurakhove direction. In this way, the enemy is trying to maintain the pace of its offensive on the Ukrainian front.
