Danish Ambassador clarifies when Ukraine will receive F-16s: "They will definitely be here"

Denmark has confirmed that it will deliver F-16s to Ukraine in the summer of 2024

Denmark will deliver modern F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine as previously agreed. According to preliminary data, the first aircraft will be in the country in the summer of 2024.

This was stated by the Danish Ambassador to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen on the air of We Ukraine on Sunday, April 21. He urged Ukrainians not to worry about the F-16 and said that the planes "will definitely be there."

"Don't worry. There will definitely be airplanes for Ukraine. This is our entire F-16 fleet, which is now being decommissioned," Mikkelsen said.

The diplomat clarified that Copenhagen is now disbanding its fleet and preparing to receive a new generation of fighters. We are talking about F-35 aircraft. Some of the F-16s currently in Denmark will go to Argentina, and some to Ukraine.

The ambassador also said that he had met Ukrainian pilots in Denmark who are undergoing training in fighter jet operations. "They are very energetic and very dedicated. I am confident that this will be a success," he emphasized.

Regarding the specific timeframe when Kyiv will receive the planes, the ambassador recalled the words of Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who previously reported that the country would hand over F-16 fighters to Ukraine this summer.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Denmark promised to deliver the first six F-16 fighters to Ukraine before the New Year. Now Denmark says that the delivery will be six months later. The delay is allegedly due to the fact that all the conditions for the transfer have not yet been met, including the training of Ukrainian pilots.
