Consequences of Russian bombing: an unexploded FAB-500 bomb was found in a residential area in Mariupol. Photo

The occupiers dug a huge pit to get the ammunition

In occupied Mariupol, another FAB-500 aircraft bomb, which did not explode during the bombing of the city by Russian troops, was recovered from the rubble of a residential area in the Livoberezhny district. The occupiers also dropped the same bomb on the Mariupol Drama Theatre, where hundreds of people died.

This was reported by Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, on his Telegram channel. He stressed that the occupiers dropped the munition where there were no military objectives - only the homes of civilian Mariupol residents.

"A Russian FAB-500 bomb in the middle of a residential area on the Left Bank. Where there was no military base. Where there was only a crowd of civilians. A living reminder of the inhumanity and crimes of the Russians. Separately, estimate the depth of the pit to get it out safely. And imagine the possible consequences," Andriushchenko said.

Thus, the published photos show a huge pit that the invaders dug to neutralise the dangerous find.

The FAB-500 is a Soviet 500kg high explosive bomb. The bomb is unguided and compatible with most models of Soviet aircraft. It strikes targets with explosive products, body fragments and an airborne shock wave. During the invasion of Ukraine, Russia used the FAB-500 to bomb Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Izyum, Mariupol and Sumy.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL:

- On 16 March 2022, a Russian bomber dropped a FAB-500 on a drama theatre in Mariupol, a place where children and women were hiding from shelling. The words "Children" were written in huge letters on the asphalt near the building. According to various sources, between 300 and 1,000 people were killed in the strike. According to an Associated Press investigation, about 600 people were killed in the Mariupol drama theatre.

- The occupiers decided to build a children's restaurant near the destroyed drama theatre.

- According to Andriushchenko, in Mariupol, the occupiers have prepared an escape plan in case the Ukrainian Armed Forces approach. The first wave is planned to go towards Novoazoavsk, and then towards Russia.
