State Department says now is not the time to leave Ukraine
The U.S. State Department believes that it would be the worst decision for Washington to stop helping Ukraine fight a full-scale Russian invasion. The department is confident that Ukrainian soldiers will liberate all the cities captured by Russia.
This was stated by Deputy Secretary of State James O'Brien at a meeting in Congress on Thursday, November 9. He said that the United States cannot afford to leave Kyiv "halfway", Voice of America reports.
He reminded that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have already regained half of the territories seized by Putin's troops since the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022.
Ukraine has also opened new alternative grain corridors, which the Russian dictator tried to block by withdrawing from the grain deal.
"Now is not the right time to leave Ukraine. Because Ukraine is winning," O'Brien said.
The state has achieved such results primarily due to the creativity of its people, a set of "interesting solutions" such as UAVs and other technologies that will contribute to American security as Ukraine approaches NATO.
Earlier, the White House reported that the funds allocated by Congress to help Ukraine have been exhausted by 96%. In total, Washington has allocated more than $60 billion in aid to Kyiv. John Kirby clarified that 96% of the funds have been spent out of the total amount provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
The day before, Senate Democrats blocked a bill to help Israel separately from Ukraine. Last week, the House of Representatives passed a $14.3 billion bill to help Israel.
It provides emergency aid to Israel but does not include assistance to Ukraine in its war against Russia.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the US State Department denied the information about the alleged discussion of peace talks with Russia. They emphasized that Ukraine will resolve any issues in this context on its own.
