Air defense forces destroyed more than 40 drones Russia used to attack Kyiv

On the night of July 31, Russian terrorist forces carried out one of the most massive drone attacks on Ukraine in the entire war. The main target of the aggressor was Kyiv - more than 40 drones were destroyed in the airspace of the capital and on the outskirts.

This was reported by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Serhiy Popko on Telegram. The air raid alert lasted over 7 hours. The enemy drones approached Kyiv in waves and from almost all possible directions.

"This was the seventh attack on Kyiv by enemy drones in July! It became the most massive for the capital in 2024 in terms of the number of UAVs used," said the head.

According to preliminary data, no damage or casualties were reported in Kyiv as a result of the attack.

Popko thanked the soldiers who guard the Ukrainian skies and urged Ukrainians not to ignore the air raid alarms.

Later, Popko added that during the second wave of drone strikes, enemy UAVs continued to attack Kyiv in waves from certain directions, but not a single drone reached its target. The air defense forces and equipment destroyed several more attack drones.

"In total, over four dozen enemy UAVs were shot down in the airspace of Kyiv and on the outskirts of the capital during these two waves. The exact figures will be provided by the Air Force," said the head, adding that there were no casualties or damage.

As a reminder, on the evening of July 30, explosions occurred in Kyiv region. Before that, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces warned of the threat of enemy use of ballistic weapons. According to the monitoring channels, the enemy launched ballistic missiles from the territory of Voronezh region of the Russian Federation.

As reported, during the Russian drone attack on Ukraine, which began in the evening of July 30, drones violated Belarus airspace again. Because of this, the Belarusian army scrambles a fighter from the Baranovichi airfield around 23:50 on Tuesday.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Defense Forces are working to update the structure of Ukraine's air defense system. This is being done to provide greater protection from Russian missile and drone attacks to all regions of our country.
