AFU holds the enemy back in the Pokrovsk direction, doing everything to stabilize the situation - General Staff
Over the past day, 115 combat engagements took place on the frontline, with 45 enemy attacks recorded between the start of the day on May 28 and noon. At the same time, the invaders did not launch any assaults in the north of Kharkiv region. In the Pokrovsk sector, the Defense Forces repelled the enemy and are trying to stabilize the situation.
At the same time, the enemy is suffering losses. Air defense, missile, and artillery units hit 24 areas of concentration of the RAF personnel over the past day. Details of the situation at the front as of 12:00 on May 28 were reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The past day was marked by fierce fighting in various sectors of the frontline: 115 combat engagements were recorded. The invaders also actively attacked the positions of Ukrainian soldiers and civilian settlements.
In particular, three missiles, 93 UAVs, 1050 kamikaze drones, and more than four thousand strikes from various types of weapons, including 138 from multiple launch rocket systems, were recorded.
The defense forces continue to give a powerful rebuff to the enemy. Over the past day, air defense, missile, and artillery units hit 24 areas of concentration of the RAF personnel over the past day.
The situation at the front is still difficult today. Since the beginning of the day on May 28, 45 combat engagements have already taken place.
"The occupants carried out seven air strikes using nine combat aircrafts, and fired at the positions of our troops using various types of weapons 656 times. Russian terrorists also used 43 kamikaze drones for attacks," the General Staff said.
In the Kharkiv sector, the occupants did not conduct any assault operations since the beginning of the day. Units of our troops are reinforcing the defense and keeping the Russian invaders under fire control.
In the Kupiansk sector, seven fierce fights have already taken place since the beginning of the day. In the areas of Petropavlivka, Druzheliubivka and Nevske, six attacks were repelled. Another fight in the area of Nevske is ongoing.
In the Lyman sector, as of 12 p.m., five hostile attacks continued in the areas of Terny, Torske and Bilohorivka. Our defenders successfully repelled one attack in the area of Torske and Bilohorivka. No positions were lost.
The enemy is also trying to be active in the Siversk sector Ukrainian troops repelled one attack and four more are ongoing. The General Staff called the situation controllable.
In the Kramatorsk sector, the enemy has tried to improve the tactical situation four times since the beginning of the day. They are conducting assault operations near Hryhorivka, Klishchiivka and Andriivka. Three enemy attempts to advance were successfully repelled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Fighting continues in the area of Andriivka.
"No positions were lost. The situation is under control," the General Staff assured.
The fiercest fighting has been taking place in the Pokrovsk sector for the last day. Since the beginning of the day, 15 combat engagements took place there: seven attacks near Novooleksandrivka, Prohres and Novoselivka were repelled by Ukrainian troops. Eight more were ongoing as of 12:00.
"Defense forces continue to make efforts to stabilize the situation in this area," the General Staff emphasized.
In the Kurakhove sector, one attack near Kostiantynivka has been repelled. The battle in the vicinity of Vodiane continues.
"The enemy is trying to push our defenders from their positions with intense fire. The Defense Forces units, in turn, are making every effort to stabilize the situation," the report says.
Since the beginning of the day, Ukrainian troops have been repelling an attack in the Vremivsk sector near Rozdolne. The situation is under control.
In the Prydniprovsk sector, the enemy made three unsuccessful attempts to push Ukrainian troops back from Krynky.
According to the General Staff, the situation in other areas has not changed significantly.
As a reminder, on the morning of May 28, the General Staff said that the day before, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had eliminated another 1,460 occupants, dozens of armored personnel carriers and artillery systems. In total, the Russians lost 175 pieces of military equipment and weapons over the course of a day.
Russia's losses in manpower during the full-scale invasion reached 503,800 people.
