"After one conversation comes another, then another..." Zelenskyy explains why other leaders should not call Putin

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on Olaf Scholz's call to Vladimir Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy knew in advance about German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's call to Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin. But he does not believe it was the right thing to do; Putin's international isolation should continue because it weakens Russia.

The head of state said this at a joint press conference with Scholz. The politicians held it on December 2 in Kyiv, where the chancellor arrived on an official visit.

"I knew that Mr. Chancellor would communicate with the Russian side," Zelenskyy said.

"I really believe that Putin's isolation – sanctions, diplomatic, etc. – strengthens Ukraine and weakens Russia," he added.

The President does not believe that other leaders should communicate with the head of the aggressor state.

"After one conversation, there is a second, third, and fifth conversation, because sometimes people want to take the leadership for themselves. And I believe that this may simply be followed by a wave of recognition of Putin," Zelenskyy explained, adding that this does not strengthen Ukraine.

"We have much more in common with Germany than we have differences. Even if we have different opinions on this issue," he summarized.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:
