On the night of December 18, powerful explosions were heard in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. Locals also reported a fire and a strong smell of smoke in the city and its surroundings.

There may have been arrivals on the territory of the Rostselmash plant, which modernizes and repairs Russian armored vehicles. This was reported by Rostov publicists, as well as by Petro Andriushchenko, an advisor to the mayor of Mariupol.

Last night, Russian air defense was working over Rostov-on-Don. Also, locals heard a series of powerful explosions from about 01:15 to 02:00, according to various sources, there were at least 6 of them. At least three were heard in the Selmash district, where the Rostselmash enterprise is located.

"Selmash stinks of smoke," wrote one of the local publics.

Local channels also published videos with the sound that could be heard between the explosions: it sounded more like a rocket engine humming than a drone.

According to Andriushchenko, a fire was also seen on the territory of the enterprise, which "deals, in particular, with the modernization of armored vehicles' transmissions and their repair."

He adds that this facility may not have been the only target that night.

"Locals also reported wreckage in the area of Rostvertrol, a helicopter manufacturing facility. It requires additional verification, but even at the level of rumors and psychological impact, it is good news," noted Andriushchenko.

He added that it was a "bavovna" night for the residents of Taganrog as well, where air defense systems were operating, "trying to shoot down what then flew into Rostov's Rostselmash."

As a reminder, the other day a railroad was blown up in Russia near an engine plant. The explosion near the city of Ulyanovsk on December 14 destroyed the railroad track.

It was also reported that almost every night, "cotton" visits the capital of Chechnya, Grozny. In particular, it regularly arrives at the local riot police base. The last time shooting and explosions were heard in Grozny was on December 15.
