On the night of February 5, explosions were heard in the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation. Russians complained about the attack by Ukrainian drones.

It was followed by a fire at an oil depot in the Kanev district, which had not been extinguished by 5 a.m. This was reported by the Russian media outlet ASTRA, and the defeat was also confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Even the governor of the region, Veniamin Kondratiev, had to admit that another oil depot had caught fire after the drone attack in the Krasnodar region of Russia. Traditionally, the fire was the result of an allegedly "repelled attack."

"Our military repelled an unmanned attack by the Kyiv authorities. In the village of Novominskaya, Kanev district, the wreckage of a UAV fell on a tank with minor residues of oil products. A fire broke out and has been assigned the second rank of complexity. Special services are working at the scene. A total of 55 people and 19 vehicles are involved in extinguishing the fire. The situation on the spot is controlled by the head of the Kanev district. According to his reports, the fire has been localized, and there are no preliminary reports of casualties," Kondratiev wrote.

However, local residents told reporters that the Albashnafta oil depot was hit. The company's website states that it is "a dynamically developing enterprise whose main activity is the production of petroleum products" and "the only oil refinery in the Kanev district of Krasnodar Territory." The declared design refining capacity is up to 320,000 tons of hydrocarbon feedstock per year.

As of 05:15 Kyiv time (06:15 Moscow time), the fire had not been extinguished. It was clearly visible from satellites.

According to Russian media, the fire was allegedly extinguished only by 08:11 Moscow time (07:11 Kyiv time).

A video has also been posted online, allegedly capturing the moment the "wreckage" of the UAV arrived.

Interestingly, on the morning of February 5, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the "destruction of four Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles": two over the territory of the Kursk region and two over the territory of the Belgorod region.

The General Staff reported that the effective destruction was carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine and the Armed Forces.

"On the night of February 5, 2025, units of the Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Armed Forces and other components of the Defense Forces, struck Albashneft LLC in the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation. This primary oil refinery and petroleum product manufacturing plant is positioned as a "mini-refinery" and is involved in the supply of gasoline and diesel for the Russian occupation army. The hit was confirmed. A fire broke out at the facility. The results of the damage are being clarified," the statement said.

Earlier, it was reported that the SSU and the SOF drones hit the Volgograd Oil Refinery and Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant.

The affected facilities are major producers of fuel for the Russian army. The Volgograd refinery processes almost 6% of all oil in Russia, and the Astrakhan refinery is one of the key facilities in Russia, processing 12 billion cubic meters of gas condensate annually.

At the plant in Volgograd region, in particular, the primary processing units were damaged. The Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant was shut down after the fire.
