President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the Russian missile attack on the Institute of Communications in Poltava. The Head of State said that 41 people were killed in the strike.

At least 180 more people were injured. Zelenskyy said this in his video message on Telegram.

The President informed that, according to preliminary data, Russian terrorists attacked Poltava with two ballistic missiles. The territory of an educational institution and a neighboring hospital came under fire.

"One of the buildings of the Institute of Communications was partially destroyed. People were trapped under the rubble. We managed to rescue many of them. More than 180 people were injured. Unfortunately, there are many dead. As of now, 41 people have been reported dead. My condolences to all the families and friends," the president said.

Zelenskyy also said that he had ordered a full and prompt investigation into all the circumstances of the incident. All necessary services have been engaged to eliminate the consequences of the terrorist attack.

For his part, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that rescuers had localized the fire at the site of the attack and were continuing to clear the rubble. Thanks to the quick and coordinated work, 25 people were rescued, 11 of them were taken out of the rubble. All the victims are being handed over to doctors for medical care.

He also said that there is a residential area near the site of the hit, so windows were smashed and the facade was damaged.

"The police are conducting door-to-door checks to see if there are any victims. We have already recorded over a hundred reports of damaged property. The works are ongoing. The rescue services will work with due regard to the safety component until we are sure that we have unblocked everyone from the rubble," Klymenko said.

Philip Pronin, head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, said that starting tomorrow, the region will be in three-day mourning.

"It is a great tragedy for Poltava region and the whole country. The enemy's insidious attack took 41 lives. More than 180 people were wounded. My sincere condolences to the families and friends. Starting tomorrow, the region will be in three days of mourning. May all the victims rest in peace. The enemy must be held accountable for all crimes against humanity," he wrote.

As a reminder, on September 3, the Russian terrorist army attacked Kherson and other settlements in the region. The shelling killed two men and injured several people, including a child.

Earlier, it was reported that Russian occupation forces fired missiles at Dnipro on the evening of September 2. There were explosions in the city, and residential buildings were damaged.
