Instead of Renault and Toyota: what Chinese cars are bought by Ukrainians

Chinese automakers are not widely represented in Ukraine at the official level. Nevertheless, due to low prices, buyers are increasingly choosing cars from China instead of Renault and Toyota, which, however, remain the bestsellers.

Cars from China are considered inexpensive compared to well-known global brands. Buyers are not concerned about quality issues, especially if they have a limited budget. Statistics on the most popular models are provided by the Ukravtoprom organization.

Only a few Chinese brands are represented by authorized dealers. However, other models are brought by third-party sellers. Most often, the range is represented by inexpensive electric cars. But used cars are also imported from China.

The most popular Chinese cars in 2024:

• Volkswagen ID.4 (1625 units);
• Honda M-NV (1279 units);
• BYD Song Plus (1062 units);
• Nissan Ariya (766 units);
• Zeekr 001 (703 units).

Ukrainians bought 14.4 thousand cars from China in 2024. Demand increased by 18% compared to 2023. At the same time, these are mostly models of European and Japanese brands manufactured in China.
