15 missiles, 14 Shahed drones and one fighter-bomber: Air Force reports on targets destroyed during massive Russian attack

On April 19, Ukraine's Air Defense Forces repelled a massive Russian attack, destroying 14 kamikaze drones and 15 missiles. The enemy has been attacking from night to morning, using 36 air attack weapons. Unfortunately, there were hits and casualties.

Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, spoke about the repulsion of the attack. He also confirmed the destruction of a Russian Tu-22M3 bomber that crashed in the Stavropol region of the Russian Federation on Friday morning.

It is noted that the enemy carried out the attack using 14 attack drones (from the Primorsk-Akhtarsk and Kursk regions of the Russian Federation), as well as 22 missiles of various types, including:

- 12 X-59/X-69 guided missiles (from the Kursk region of the Russian Federation and from the Sea of Azov)

- six X-22 cruise missilesfromTu-22M3 long-range strategic bombers (from the Black and Azov Seas)

- two X-101/X-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95 MS strategic aviation aircraft (Ryazan, Russia)

- two Iskander-K cruise missiles (from the temporarily occupied Crimea).

Anti-aircraft missile troops of the Air Force, mobile fire groups and electronic warfare units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in repelling the air attack.

As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 29 targets were destroyed, including 11 X-59/X-69, two X-22, and two X-101/X-555 missiles, as well as all 14 Shahed drones.

In addition, anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force in cooperation with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine destroyed a Tu-22M3 long-range strategic bomber, X-22 cruise missile carrier used by Russian terrorists to attack peaceful Ukrainian cities, for the first time. This Friday's attack also marked the first time the Ukrainian defense destroyed two such missiles.

"Ukraine needs more means, more missiles to better protect the frontline territories from Russian terrorism. I am grateful to all those who made this result possible today. Evil will be punished! Together to victory!" Oleshchuk said.

It was reported that Russia's missiles hit Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Synelnykove in Dnipropetrovsk region: eight people were killed and 29 injured. In the regional center, a five-story building and two infrastructure facilities were hit, and an enterprise and houses were damaged in the region.

As reported, on the night of April 18, air defense forces destroyed all 13 Russian Shahed drones in the Ukrainian sky. The falling wreckage of the UAVs caused fires in the Carpathian region and damaged houses and cars in the Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk region. No injuries were reported.
