Kharlan says which Russians should be allowed to compete at the Olympics

Maksym InshakovSport
Our compatriot gave advice to the IOC.

Ukrainian sabre fencer Olga Kharlan believes that only those Russians who have proven their non-involvement in war propaganda should be allowed to participate in the 2024 Olympics. At the same time, our fencer emphasized that ideally there should not be a single athlete from Russia at the Games in Paris.

According to Kharlan, if the IOC wants to allow Russian representatives under a neutral flag, this neutrality should be deeper. The IOC should check it.

"Either [the Russians] should say it publicly or sign the declarations, because before they were against signing the declarations because it would be bad for them in their country. But you see that they are not neutral, that certain information is coming out," Harlan noted on the air of "Snidanok z 1+1".

Olga is sure that the fact that they cannot express their opinions is their problem and the problem of their undemocratic country.

"There are athletes who have left, there are athletes who are speaking out publicly, saying they are against the war. I believe they can participate because they are helping Ukraine as well," the champion concluded.

We will remind, the International Olympic Committee recommended that international federations suspend from competition Russian athletes related to the Russian army and security forces, as well as from team sports. They should also not support the war in Ukraine.
