Välbe speaks about sanctions

Elena Välbe, President of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Federation (RCCF), expressed the absurd idea that athletes from Russia would be begged to return to international tournaments. The three-time Olympic champion called the conditions for allowing athletes from the aggressor country to compete double standards.

Välbe said this in a commentary to the propaganda news agency TASS. The head of the FLGR criticized the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and its president Thomas Bach, who allegedly are not independent in their decisions and suffer from the absence of Russians in tournaments.

"They've been with these double standards for a long time. What Bach says today does not mean that tomorrow it will be the same repeated words again, he may say something of his own, he may come up with something new. I am deeply convinced that Bach and not only he, but also the top staff of the IOC do not have the right to say what they would like to say, I am sure that he, as a former athlete, would like everyone to compete, but there are sponsors who dictate what should be done. So we have to cancel Russia-they canceled it. But it's okay, let's wait, they will come crawling on their knees and beg," said Välbe.
