Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova strongly criticized the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympics, using epithets in which ordinary Russians recognized their president. The diplomat said that "only the closing of the Olympic Games in Paris could be worse than the opening of the Olympic Games" and France "did not miss this chance."

According to Maria Zakharova, the true meaning of the play was very clear to her:
