Kharlan told how the international federation arranges baseness to please Russia
The International Fencing Federation (FIE) does everything to ensure that athletes from Russia and Belarus will be able to get to the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. The management of the organization postpones the qualification competitions, breaks the calendar and set up representatives of other countries to achieve this goal.
Olga Kharlan, the famous Ukrainian saber fencer, told about this in an interview with "Suspilne, Sport". She stressed that the Russian and Belarusian athletes should not participate in international tournaments, hinting at the leadership of the FIE, which was headed by the Russian Alisher Usmanov until 2022.
"We know that the previous FIE president didn't step aside that much. We don't know everything, but we see such dynamics. The FIE is now doing its best to return the Russians and Belarusians to the competitions so that there would be "no discrimination". At the same time, they ruin the preparation for the end of this season and for the Games in general. They move the qualifying competitions to other dates and to another countries, setting up all the European participating countries that have a training plan," Kharlan said.
Earlier it became known that Olha's main rivals from Russia Sofia Velikaya and Sofia Pozdnyakova were not allowed to participate in international competitions.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, on March 10 the FIE was the first to allow the representatives of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus to participate in international tournaments. This caused an angry reaction in the world, with many countries refused to participate or hold competitions under the auspices of the organization. Besides, at the stage of the Grand Prix in South Korea the FIE banned the symbols of Ukraine.
At the same time it became known that Russian fencers were not allowed to the stage of qualifying for the Olympics 2024. The Ukrainian fencers have decided that they will not take part in the competitions where representatives of the aggressor countries will compete.
