The head of the Russian Weightlifting Federation (RWF) Maxim Agapitov demanded that international sports organizations allow athletes from Russia to compete without any restrictions. He called the competitions in which representatives of the aggressor country can take part only in neutral status a farce.

Agapitov said this on the air of the propaganda TV channel Match TV. He added that weightlifters from Russia will not compete without their national symbols. The official also accused Western countries of politicizing sports and conspiring against Russians.

"The decision to exclude our athletes has long been formed. If we're talking about sports, especially sports where Western countries can't beat us, they're looking for workarounds. They make Russians sign up to some political statements. Our athletes in gray-mouse-colored uniforms do not plan to participate in such a charade. How can one athlete, who is weaker, but has nothing to do with the army, go anywhere? Our flag must also be present. Otherwise it's not sport, but something else," Agapitov said.

Earlier, the head of the RWF cynically spoke about the possible disqualification of the Ukrainian team at the 2024 Olympic Games because of the doping scandal.
