"I don't pay attention": Russian Olympic champion spits on Paralympians who were "a little offended by life"

Vasilyev speaks about the Paralympians

Two-time Olympic champion Dmitry Vasiliev has shown incredible contempt for the Russian participants of the 2024 Paralympics in Paris. The Z-patriot criticized them for traveling to the French capital and added that due to their successful performances, some athletes who "life has offended a little bit" will receive a "decent raise."

Vasilyev expressed this ridiculous opinion in an interview with Sport24. The former biathlete repeated traditional propaganda narratives about Russia's alleged humiliation due to the conditions of admission to international competitions, hinting that he does not consider Paralympians traitors only because of their health problems.

"I didn't watch the Paralympic Games because I've said many times that we shouldn't go to Paris in principle. Our country was humiliated. And I don't pay attention to where my country and my athletes are humiliated, at least. The only thing I know is that ours... Although no, they are not ours, but it's okay - since they are Paralympians, we will consider them ours. People need to be supported - they have been hurt a bit by life, as they say. Therefore, good results for them mean a decent salary increase," Vasiliev said.

It should be noted that 88 Russian athletes are competing at the Paralympic Games in Paris. They are prohibited from using national symbols, mentioning the name of their country, and their results are not taken into account in the medal standings.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, during the awarding ceremony for our swimmer Igor Tsvetov, the cameras caught the reaction of Russian athletes during the performance of the Ukrainian anthem at the 2024 Paralympics.
