Because of some Ukraine: Russian Olympic champion demanded that the IOC respond "in a purely human way" for Russia's suspension
Two-time Olympic swimming champion Denis Pankratov was outraged over the conditions of Russian athletes' admission to competitions. He demanded that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) lift the ban on the symbols of the aggressor country and repeated the Kremlin propaganda narrative that sports cannot exist without Russia.
Pankratov wrote about this in his column for Sports.ru. He pretended not to understand the reasons for sanctions against Russian athletes, and spoke disparagingly about Ukraine, whose representatives boycott competitions involving Russians.
"As a spectator, I'm tired of all this whistling. Now I want us to have a flag and an anthem at the Olympics. I don't understand what you in the IOC are demanding from us. I would like to ask: do you guys realize what you are doing? Are you afraid of a boycott from Ukraine and other countries? So it is your failure that some countries can afford to boycott the Olympic movement. And in order to keep it alive, you have to come up with these silly schemes. Without Russia, the Olympic movement cannot exist," Pankratov noted.
Earlier, the media revealed that the IOC was going to allow Russians and Belarusians to the 2024 Olympics on the terms of the refugee team. In response, Russia offered to go to Paris on tanks.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Honorary President of the Russian Olympic Committee Leonid Tyagachev called the IOC leaders, who are considering the possibility of Russian participation in the Games in Paris in the status of refugees, fools.
