Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova expressed an absurd opinion that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is pushing Russia to ban athletes from the 2024 Games. The State Deputy immediately became a laughingstock online, and her mental abilities were compared to the level of thinking of former boxer Nikolai Valuev.

"I believe that athletes should not be limited in their choice. They should decide whether to go to the Olympics or not. The fact is that the West is pushing Russia with all its decisions to ban athletes from going to Paris. And they are swaying our people to speak up as well: "Let's ban them!" Zhurova said in a commentary to the propaganda outlet Sport-Express.

Readers of the Sports.ru portal ridiculed these statements by the former figure skater. Fans noted that, according to Zhurov's logic, Russia is constantly following the lead of Western countries, which it simultaneously blames for all its troubles.
