Poll results show that Ukrainians want victory, liberation of occupied territories and accession to NATO and EU

A poll, conducted among Ukrainians, showed that the people of our country want a complete victory in the war with the aggressor country Russia over the next year. This was chosen by 76.8% of the country's citizens.

The second place was taken by the liberation of all the territories temporarily occupied by Russian troops (35.5%). The top three wishes of Ukrainians also included Kyiv receiving an invitation to join NATO (33.7%). The poll was conducted by the Razumkov Center sociological service at the request of ZN.UA.

26.8% of Ukrainians surveyed want to see negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union begin. 18.7% want international investment to come to Ukraine as soon as possible; 13.4% want Ukraine to cut the land corridor between Crimea and Russia.

Regarding Ukraine's membership in the EU, 60.5% of the survey participants are confident that the country can join the union in less than 10 years, 54.8% assume that it will happen by 2030, while 20.6% of respondents said that Ukraine will join the EU in two years.

The people of Ukraine are most hopeful that the process of gaining EU membership will reduce corruption in the country: 34% of respondents chose this answer. 31% of Ukrainians believe that the main attractive factor of the EU for Ukraine is the country's access to EU structural funds.

At the same time, 26.2% of respondents believe that EU membership is also a guarantee of Ukraine's security. And 18.8% are aware of the geopolitical importance of potential EU membership: it is important for them that the Ukrainian state will become a de jure part of the Western world.

Ukrainians were also asked what scares them the most about Ukraine's future membership in the EU. 24.1% of respondents said they look to the European future without fear.

32% are afraid of rising prices, 24.1% are afraid of the brain drain from the country, while 21.9% are afraid of Brussels' possible "dictates" and partial loss of Ukraine's sovereignty.

The probable need to accept migrants from other countries in the event of a conflict and a "migration crisis" scares 18.3% of Ukrainians. Only 11.1% of Ukrainians are afraid of the loss of national identity in case of accession to the EU.

By the way, a KIIS social survey commissioned by the EU Advisory Mission recently showed that Ukraine's membership in the union is supported by the majority of Ukrainians, 77% of respondents.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on November 8, the European Commission recommended starting negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the European Union. The process will be launched at the end of March 2024. However, there will be no accelerated accession procedure as Ukraine needs to ensure development in some areas.
