Coronavirus pandemic quarantine ends in Ukraine on July 1

On July 1, the state of emergency, which most Ukrainians had forgotten about while living under martial law, ends in the country. The quarantine imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic ends.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a government meeting on Tuesday, June 27.

"As of July 1, we are ending the quarantine and the state of emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic. COVID-19 has been a difficult ordeal for Ukrainians. All of our decisions all along have been aimed at keeping people alive," Shmyhal said.

During the pandemic, he said, authorities worked out response mechanisms that came in handy during a full-scale war.

"Now we are responding to new challenges armed with new methods and approaches. We thank medics who have been selflessly fighting the pandemic all these years and have done everything to minimize its consequences," said the head of government.

Shmyhal emphasized that now doctors and nurses are no less heroic in helping defenders and civilians in a full-scale war.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, U.S. intelligence agencies found no direct evidence that the COVID-19 pandemic originated from an incident at China's Wuhan Institute of Virology. That said, U.S. intelligence still cannot rule out that the virus came from a laboratory.
