Former Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi, who today officially became Ukraine's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the UK, has published a photo of what he looked like before he served. Presumably, the first photo (below) was taken when Zaluzhnyi was studying at the Odesa Institute of Land Forces.

The general did not comment neither on the latest events in Ukraine nor on his dismissal and appointment. After he was dismissed from the post of commander-in-chief, he virtually disappeared from the public space, showing online only. However, even here he avoids commenting. His last post on Facebook consists of only two photos.

In a few hours, these photos gained more than 35 thousand likes and almost two hundred comments. The general's post was commented on by both celebrities and ordinary Ukrainians.

MP Sofia Fedyna noted that she would now be waiting for the third photo, this time from the diplomatic front.

Odesa MP Kostyantyn Oborin wrote that he would be glad to "meet with Mr. Commander-in-Chief again" (but did not specify where exactly).

Vlasta Shovkovska, a well-known volunteer, noted that Zaluzhnyi is "our pride" and wished him success in his new job.

Of course, she wasn't the only one who wished him success: perhaps every other comment contained such wishes.

There were also many words of gratitude regarding our country. For example, "Thank you for Ukraine" was written by actress Natalia Vasko and MP Yulia Yatsyk.

Interestingly, the latter (an MP from the Servant of People Party) said, "You had confidence in victory, now only faith remains."

And these are not all the famous people who left comments on Zaluzhnyi's post.

By the way, the 50-year-old general has no diplomatic experience as he devoted his life to his military career. But in 2020, he completed his master's degree in International Relations at the Ostroh Academy.

Recently, Valerii Zaluzhnyi has been admired online for showing photos of the results of his training. The general does not give up shooting.

The former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, whose dismissal was announced in February, had been speaking honestly and frankly about the war for two years and answering journalists' pointed questions. His comments rarely resembled a "warm bath." It was Zaluzhnyi who was able to "sober up" the world, which was expecting a lightning-fast and easy victory over the occupiers.
