The Ministry of Health disclosed the number of Ukrainians who have fallen ill since October

Since October, 1.7 million people in Ukraine have had ARVI, flu, and COVID-19. 56% of this number were children.

These striking figures were published by the press service of the Ministry of Health. It is noted that in just one week, from December 18 to 24, 152,073 cases of the disease were registered in the country, including 8,709 new cases of COVID-19. Moreover, three patients with the Pirola sub-variant of the coronavirus were detected in Vinnytsia and Kirovohrad regions.

In total, 4,684 Ukrainians were hospitalized over the week, 2,303 of whom were children under 17.

Also, according to the Ministry of Health, influenza A and B viruses are circulating in 10 regions of Ukraine. Two people who had not been vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19 died of complications of the disease in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

The agency noted that in the event of a deterioration in the epidemic situation, the emergency response commissions may locally implement restrictive measures. These include, in particular, the mask regime, social distancing, cancellation of mass events, etc.

As a reminder, since mid-October, China has faced a sharp increase in the number of respiratory cases. In November, the international surveillance system ProMED issued a warning about the emergence of an undiagnosed infection in North China. The WHO sent an official request to the Chinese authorities on this issue.

As reported by OBOZ.UA:

– In early December, State Sanitary Doctor Ihor Kuzin and virologist Alla Myronenko reported that the number of coronavirus cases in Ukraine has recently increased significantly. The epidemic threshold has been exceeded in Chernivtsi region, but there is no talk of introducing quarantine restrictions there.

– Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin said that despite the lifting of the COVID-19 pandemic status globally and the lifting of quarantine restrictions in Ukraine, the coronavirus is still circulating. The incidence usually peaks during the cold season.
