"Mom, I'm alive!" Lubinets showed an emotional video with a defender released from captivity
The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets showed an emotional video of the exchange of prisoners of war that took place on February 5. The Ukrainian defender was finally able to contact his family and inform them that he was alive.
According to him, this is the return everyone is waiting for. It's a story of resilience, endurance, and hope. The video was posted on Lubinets' TiKTok channel.
"Mom, I'm alive! Everything is fine. Mom, I love you very much too. I am alive and healthy. I'm fine," the defender said during his first call to his family in his native land.
According to Lubinets, representatives of the Ombudsman's Office were at the exchange site to monitor the observance of human rights in accordance with international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. They recorded the condition of the released persons returning to Ukraine and informed them of their rights.
"When our defenders return home, they again feel the strength of their native land under their feet, the warmth of hugs and endless support. Next, they will undergo a medical examination, receive the necessary assistance to restore their documents and cards, and undergo rehabilitation," the human rights ombudsman said.
Lubinets also emphasized that Ukraine wants to return all its citizens and continues to work for this. He thanked those citizens and family members of prisoners and missing persons who believe in the state and do not give up hope for the return of their heroes.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on February 5, Ukraine and Russia held the 61st exchange of prisoners of war. 150 defenders have returned home, including servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guardsmen, Territorial Defense fighters, border guards, and a representative of the National Police.
The border guards showed how Ukrainian defenders were greeted in Ukraine after their Russian captivity. After all the trials, the soldiers' eyes continue to radiate strength and freedom.
In addition, the network was touched by the footage of the first call to the parents of soldier Maksym Serbul, who has been in captivity since the fall of 2022.
