Now is the time to raise the question of the European Union developing programs for the return of Ukrainians who have left the country because of Russia's full-scale invasion. However, appropriate conditions must be created for this.

We are talking about security conditions, medical services, housing reconstruction, etc. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha at the Yalta European Strategy (YES) forum. This issue should be on the agenda, he emphasized.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is currently working with European partners to create appropriate conditions and implement initiatives that will facilitate the return of Ukrainians who left the country because of the war.

In particular, the Ministry continues to work actively with the European Commission to develop initiatives that will encourage Ukrainians who intend to return home. Such strategies were recently discussed at the talks between the Ukrainian Foreign Minister and EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson.

"According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha, the relevant initiatives should primarily create a positive motivation for our people abroad to make an informed choice in favor of returning," the statement said.

Earlier, at a meeting of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, Ukraine discussed the creation of a new institution in the government with the working title of Ministry of Return of Ukrainians. Candidates who could head it are being assessed.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the possibility of the forced return of Ukrainian citizens from abroad. According to him, it is important for our country not to lose 7.5 million people who have gone abroad. At the same time, the guarantor noted that adult Ukrainians and children should be returned to the country without coercion.
